ULTZ is an English director and designer who works in theatre, opera and with urban music.
He won a Tony Award Nomination and an Olivier Award for his Set Design for JERUSALEM (Royal Court / West End / Broadway) and an Off West End Award for his Set Design for THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE (Young Vic). His production of PIED PIPER – A HIP HOP DANCE REVOLUTION, which he developed with Boy Blue Entertainment and directed and designed, won an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement. He recently directed and designed THE HAPPY WIDOW, playing in repertoire at Landestheater-Niederbayern in Germany, and is currently preparing set and costume designs for GLORIANA (Hamburg State Opera & Royal Opera House), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Old Vic), ARIODANTE (Festival d’Aix en Provence). ULTZ is a Visiting Fellow of the University of the Arts London.
