Alexandra Sivov
Printmaker and mixed media artist
Studio: MSS 6
Alexandra Sivov is a multi-disciplinary artist. Her practice involves the translation of the world that she experiences through contemporary news media into large scale paintings, silkscreen prints on paper or glass as well as 3D works. Given that the meanings of words and images are largely dependent on the nature of the medium through which they are transmitted and tend to reflect the viewpoints of those who convey them- the ‘truth value’ of news information becomes elusive being subject to manipulation and bias. The works she creates aim to reflect on these conditions and involve a complex making process.
Selected solo exhibitions include: Too Much Information… Or Not Enough, Twickenham (UK, 2022); Between Here And There, Brenham (USA, 2018); Traces of Places, Houston (USA, 2015). Selected group exhibitions include: Summer Exhibition, Reigate (2022); Convergence, London (2022), Cheap Festival, Bologna (Italy, 2021); Ex Libris, Houston (USA, 2021); Printmatters “Rokin’ Rollin’ Exhibition, Brazosport (USA, 2018), Assistance League Celebrate Texas 2018, Houston (USA, 2018); Three Journeys, Houston (USA, 2018).
She attended the MA course in fine art at City and Guilds Art School of London, graduating in 2020. Alexandra works in London at Make Space Studios, and is also in 2022, an artist in residence at Ochre Print Studio in Guildford.
